Wondering if this server idea would work. SEASONS.

I want a balanced, seasonal experience from RO, each season lasting two or so months. Balanced, meaning classic. The progression would be a bit faster. MVP cards would be attainable, without anyone needing to bother hunting the cards per se. I don't like how MVP hunting is such a s*** show. So they would be segmented into dungeons that you could pay zeny to access, or something like this. Some of the cards would probably be customized. Donations cosmetic only. Maybe level cap increased to scale with new content. I'm willing to throw a bit of money at it as well, if I thought it would succeed. I don't think it would though, sadly.

Hmmm maybe if I made the seasons longer it would actually last. Like six months or so.

Interesting details in your post.

Well, I can tell you that I thought about it and eventually shut it down. It's playing around the lack of content instead of filling it up with things to do.

No content lasts forever. Path of Exile and Diablo III both use the seasonal model, because replaying the game is still a good time. They add new content with each season, of course, to change the meta and keep things fresh, but I doubt I can pull that off. After all, I didn't design RO, I'm just toying with what's already there. I can't create a new boss fight, for instance. At least, I doubt it. That goes for all private servers though, and saying that you can fill a private server up with things to do constantly is a lie. I mean, what is there even to do in TalonRO? I hear people on that server don't even WoE anymore because it costs too much. So you stick around for seven years, and for what? To play their s*** events and minigames? lol, dude. My solution is the only one to keeping the game fresh after a long period of time.

No offense intended. I am just saying.

no content lasts forever like no game should last forever, every adventure comes to an end. to challenge this concept(which represents growth itself) is something only stagnant people would do. either you change the game or accept that once you've reached the end it's time to move on.

you sound like another person who likes tracing in my footsteps, so i would suggest for you to kick back, relax, wait a couple of months and let me show you how it's done.

It will work if the season you've mentioned are pure custom. If you can release a great update every 6 months, I am sure your server would last.

But if you're just planning to comment out the npcs and then combine card effects of different monsters then it will definitely die.

I don't think Path of Exile has had a major update in like two years. If my server lasts that long, I'll be quite satisfied. And, I'm sure I'll come up with changes, but nothing major. The gimmick with this server is that it's a racing one. I'm doling out rewards for WoE victories, so it's PvP-centric. Diablo III and Path of Exile both fail to offer this excitement, so it does sort of fill a gap. I mean who knows, maybe it'll succeed for that reason alone, but I'm not sure.
