Which Sakray version? The "popular 1010"or the newest 0417?

Hi, 

I know that the current newest version of Sakray is 0417.  However, a lot of server said they need version 1010(an older version).  I wonder if version 0417 work or not.

I remember I used to have 2 different versions of Sakray. However, the server's data and sclientinfo only work on 1 of them...the other version doesn't work. When it doesn't work, it's like the login screen is in korean instead of english, and the character is not there...

So is that means I should stay with version 1010?

If you still have 1010 installed and you don't get any error on the server you currently playing on, just stay with it.

Sprite error is a sign that your client needs patching or if patching fails then get a newer client.  If one day you get those sprite error popup ... it's time for a change.

I don't have any Sakray install right now. Cuz I just format my computer.  Is the newest version always "safer" than the older one?

Nonetheless, it never hurts to be overupdated. Better off getting the newer version, to save time later.

i agree. 1010 is very old now. the main problem is that people error on the newer hats, and also with rachel.

that is a murder of bandwidth on the server side, you know how many ppl download kRO + Sakray a day? 

To get some idea you can try:

Check the filerfront download count four the 0417 clients ... i heard today from Taikumi that his Sakray on filefront has been downloaded 11,000 times ever since uploaded on May 07, 2007.  So 2 months, used up 11 TB = 11,000 GB.  omg i feel sorry for filefront but they are slow so they deserve it.

Even my "last resort" ratemyserver.net provided 0417 clients Rag + Sak are pulling an average of 100GB a day D: (they are "last resort" because I purposely put them at the end of the list hoping ppl will download from the filehost sites on the top of the list and leave my bandwidth alone.) ... i am pretty sure my links can't last for the whole month next month, it has to be stopped before it charge me extra lol

Why are there so many ppl downloading Rag & Sak everyday they seem to never end ... stop formating

I may be wrong, but doesn't the Sakray client update itself when you successfully run the patcher?  I've had the same Sakray for over a year, but I can see all the newer mobs and headgears with no problem!

if you are lucky enough for it to update. mine downloaded for half an hour then couldnt repack.

I download 0417, but one of the server is not working (the other work) well..it seems I can't get all work with one single version...so yeah I'm still happy with that :p

Why don't you just save your bandwidth by telling people to not get RAG_SETUP and only get the DLL's inside instead? The only things you need from RAG_SETUP are a bunch of DLL's. That takes 1,5MB.

Basically, RAG_SETUP = 1,5 MB of needed files + 1,1GB of garbage that private server clients do not use.

dont' the dll changes from version to version? i am not sure about this one.

i have been bugging someone to give me a working dll pack to put in the list but i afraid it will cause more trouble to some ppl ...  u know ... even with both Rag and Sak they can still run into all kinds of problem ... sigh

It depends on their server's version. Someone has said that clients before December are incompatible with server files after December - and the other way around. It's all about the version of your SAK_SETUP. Getting the newest one is a must.
