Those naughty people.

I am not sure where to post this. Kindly move this to the proper section. I do believe at the first place that this is supposed to be placed on the Game Master section, but the GMs are the one doing this kind of things so I don't believe it goes right there. And my second thought of where this topic is supposed to be is the Server Discussion board, but I don't find it suitable there neither.

I still wonder why the hell people are giving rewards for reviews? I mean, I love busting them out. Of course. Seriously, why? As if they never get annoyed those pressing enter on every pop up shows when you try to make a server listing, right?

Even if they get 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000 reviews, if the players don't like the server at the start, the population won't grow neither. In my view though.

The ones I keep on busting were Pinoy servers. I had to join all of the PH private server groups to check out one of each, since they are the most troublemaker in the RO community. (Hey, I'm one too but not as what you have think. Rine taught me to be a good citizen.)

Edit: I also start to doubt a server when I see it having continuous reviews for 1 hour or so though.

If anyone knows where I hunt those troublemakers, click the spoiler, I join every single RO group that I can see or their Fan page.

You are naughty.

nah jk

Free ads. Reviewed server will get a free ads on the right part of rms homepage (which is visited by like every single private server players), the part for that "recently reviewed server". And additionally top reviewed servers get that place on front page, just right in the center.

Also, big amount of reviews kinda give an impression that the server have big population -> lets hop in as well.

Well, it's still an attempt to get more players into their server, since private servers keep popping up like mushrooms everywhere, it does kind of help to start things up for a new comer.

This is just me, but I don't see any problems on people(GMs) rewarding their players in exchange for accurate reviews, I know that it is illegal here in RMS, or I think it is 'coz I'm fairly sure that I read something about that here before, I'm not too keen on reading rules though, and as I said, that's just me and my fairly unsure opinion on this.

^ Reminds me of some Apple Store apps where they would give credits or points to people who review, especially with 5/5 stars (for the first point).

The thing with giving rewards to accurate reviews is that it's ambiguous as to what is "accurate". Furthermore, there may be complications of players making multiple accounts to write reviews, and so forth - some owners may not mind that as that just means more publicity for them (as opposed to RMS staff that have to deal with them).

The simple thing is to not allow rewards for reviews and let players write for themselves. If a server is really good, the player would take the time to write a review for their beloved server in hopes that the review helps it out and gets more players to join.

Hehe, you think I am not doing the same?  But I join first, look later when I smell fishy.  If you see someone that is in as many RO groups as you that could be one of my fake fb account.

The thing that always make me question is, "Do they know it's not allowed?".  I mean when they sign up, I made them read alert boxes to make them know (try it yourself http://ratemyserver.net/index.php?page=join_basics).  But some people just give reward for review right after they signed up.  T_T

Next thing I could try is give them multiple choice questions before they can fill in the registration form.

I don't like it when a server begs its players to review, rewards or not.  It's painfully obvious baiting for higher RMS numbers, and no amount of "honest" "fair" "balanced" requests make it any different.

If your server is incredible/awful enough, people will come here to post about it because it gave an impactful experience.  If they only review it when prompted, your server might just be mediocre enough that nothing stood out as "I gotta share this right away".

yeah only morons like [insert your favorite person's name here] will join stupid servers ran by gm's who give out free s***.. hmm says a lot about their credibility.

At least we can all sleep happily knowing these groups of people have their own retard servers and stay away from english ones.

I agree on all of the posts above though. The temptation of getting into the Most Reviewed Servers This Week portion is really crazy.

You are naughty.

Lol you are naughtier. Kidding.

Those boxes are annoying, so I bet they just enter enter enter it lol. Wait, you had a dummy fb account? Can I add it? Kidding. Its hard to lurk in these  groups though. More than 50+?! /omg Oh well. I daily check what I can check from time to time though.

Do you know that giving points, items or any other incentives to players in exchange for them to review your server will get your listing banned?
Do you and your staff know that it is a violation to our terms of services to provide incentives to players for reviews?  It is unaccpetable and you will be suspended for it.
Thank you. Now you may click on the word BANNABLE in the reminder message above to register.
Reload this page if you have been an enter spammer, you did not read any of the previous messages and lied that you did.

Lol at "Click again no joke ;)" and "hi still there?" XD

People are still stupid enough to get baited with e-Fame or pixelated items that doesn't worth any cents irl (unless you're stupid rich, throwing money for something that can be made by writing one line sentence).

Talking about server reviews, usually newly opened servers give reward for reviews. This is mostly because they want a burst of fame so they'll climb up the list fast. This will end up baiting people who are ignorant to reviews and stuffs, only looking at the server's ranking.
