as seen from the 1st video, it's possible to get these stuff to work on pservers, altho that's probably not RCX (the latter) and perhaps a modified version of it.

in case no one knows what i'm talking about, it's those colored cells on the ground that replaces aoe effects

Just a guess, but: Maybe they modified the effects in the client so coloured cells replace the effects instead of, as we could think they'd do, make the effects replaced by the coloured cells only when /effect is active.

Well I use it on iRO, and I've used it on VisionRO back before they put their client protection on. I always have it running but it refuses to attach to any other private server I've played. It was meant to be used with Aegis, not eA =/

yeah but i doubt the TFE one is RCX. for one it doesnt have the flashing tiles and gutterlines. wonder how they did it.

it's not like i can ask them either, it seems they aren't an english community

Actually RCX does work on Pservers, the only problem is that you cannot access the control panel for some weird reasons, so you gotta pre-activate the features in the .ini file before running it.

I don't know how much this would help, but I've looked around our (Vision) forums, looking at the older client support topics when we had RCX enabled and this showed up. Like I said, it may or may not help you but it's worth a shot

mind giving me a fast walkthrough?

i know i have to set M2E to 1 in the .ini,

and change the .exe to my server's, but what about the rest? and how do i start RCX? is it double clicking the GPS thing? how do i setup the GPS connection?


i would really appreciate it if someone gave me a brief step-by-step guide

I think you need to get the IP of the Charserver for the server you play, and add that to the bottom of the RCX. Also, try renaming the server's client to Ragnarok.exe, it wouldnt work for me when i changed the .exe in the .ini. and dont forget to add in the server's path. Once you do all that, start RCX, right click on the GPS window and do Launch Ragnarok. Once you do that, wait for it to initialize and you should be good to go. So far, the only bugs ive found are no ingame CP, so you have to set things up in the .ini first, and that SG only shows 1 cell. havent tested much else

^ Thanks Wike! Tested on 2 servers, worked on both. Had the same bugs you mentioned; I cannot access the ingame CP, and SG shows only 1 cell. All the other features work just fine. It shows the exp you get from mobs, the monster's HP, your buffs, etc.

Not sure about the cp thing, but the reason SG and such only shows 1 cell is because AoEs in eA are handled differently than on Aegis. In eA, SG is like a splash from the middle cell where as on Aegis it's all the cells.

i did all that and when i right click to launch, it launches. but the problem is that nothing works. no cell thingies, no exp, no HP, buff timers etc. and on the GPS window it still shows "GPS - Disconnect"

wonder whats the problem. i tried both build 44 and 48.

tried changing between my grfs too, but i dont think thats the problem.

Does your server have any sort of client protection?
Also, do not touch the GPS thing. I did that, and RCX failed to load until I re-installed it. Just do what Wike said, and try again. Pretty much everything you have to do is:
1. Extract RCX on a folder (not the RO one).
2. Copy and paste the english translation files.
3. Open RCX and edit the RO folder's direction, M2E, add the char server's IP at the end (and the server's name too). Save it and close it.
4. Rename your server's .exe; didn't work for me when it wasn't called Ragnarok.exe (do note that you won't be able to open your server by using the patcher, since the .exe's name was changed. I'd recommend making a copy of the exe and renaming the copy).
5. Open RCX, right click on the GPS box and choose "Launch Ragnarok".

After doing all that, you should see a loading bar once the client appears.

and on that note, not sure if its just my comp or not, but if I alt tab when its loading, it crashes RO, RCX, and explorer. Quite a few comp restarts happened, wasn't too fun.

i got 2 other friends from my server to try.

the vista one (like me) didnt get it to work. the one running XP did
