RO2, how will it effect RO1?
« on: Jan 29, 2012, 01:00 am »
Personally, i think it might effect it quit a lot...

The good

Old players who have already quit ro1 would play ro2, if ro2 is bad it will spark theyre motivation to play ro1 again

The bad

Drop in players for RO1 , this would lead to a chain effect for less developers etc to continue working on RO

The ugly

RO1 would completely die

This is just my opinion anyways, i didnt include the fact that gravity itself hasnt "completely" given up on RO1 yet

what do you guys think?  /no1

If it becomes like WoW, nothnx.

But if they do find a way to maintain the old WoE scene on RO2 it'll probably take over RO1, but still I think it's a far cry because of the difference in a fully 3D game to an RO1 cartoony style gameplay.

It is likely that if Gravity doesn't screw up RO2 'two' (because this is the second sequel they are making), and goes F2P with it, then it will completely wipe out RO1. I don't see this as a bad thing though if this comes to pass as it will mean having a lot of players, both former, not playing currently, or playing now - all in a bunch of public servers.

Now, if Gravity screws up, doesn't go F2P, or if something else happens - it probably won't wipe RO1. However there will be a drop if players in the RO servers as they try out RO2. In my opinion this is the worst situation that could develop because then Gravity will be stuck with 2 failing games.

Of course however, they may discontinue RO1 as soon as they launch RO2 to encourage people to play it. Should they screw up then that will be it for RO and it will be dead regardless of the name after it. Of course if they do it well then that will be the very best situation (no one playing old RO means they will have even more inclination to play new RO).

RO2 = Renewal for a lot of people: Idea is good, implementation is crap.

Also, the gameplay is too peaceful to be something that will get everybody there while at RO1 Pre-Renewal you've action non-stop and there are far better ro-like games with better/faster action around.

Ragnarok Online 2 PVP

Srs, da f*ck is this to be called PvP?

Although it might be more interesting in large scale PvP/WoE rather than that 1 on 1.

Is there any release date for that internationally?

That looks like old old RO2. LotS has a different interface.

It may be the old version but it's the same concept because is the same in the new version[it's like there is no difference aside the where/what you're playing].

Compare it yourself with the other.
RO2 LotS: Limited Edition Test PVP Marti (Warrior) vs. Yuffie (Assassin)

The game, for me, looks like it could be called Heroes of Might & Magic XXI: The 1 vs 1 Chibi Xperience.

Coming from someone who has quit RO going on a year now. I personally do not see myself playing RO2 or any other MMO from gravity again. Definitely will never play RO1 ever again. You can blame the way private servers are run these days on that. Maybe if i stayed on iRO(official) it would be a different story.

If i was going to pick a MMO back up it would probably be SWTOR over anything else.

I don't think games will copy WoW as much anymore seeing as it is going downhill. Games like league of legends and other Moba's have a much higher player base than WoW does now.

RO2 is taking so long, I know they redid it back in 2010 and it is now 2012 ... I so wanted to play it too lol.

I don't think they will discontinue RO1, they still get royalty $$ on the licenses.  Some countries such as those in the middle east haven't have RO1 for too long.  In a business point of view, I believe they will let them co-exist.  It give more choice to players that love RO.  It's not like Gravity is only running 1 game at a time, they have a few others as well.  Why not just add to the collection.  There is a reason for people to try RO2 as a "new" game then they might also try RO1 or vice-versa.  They might cut a lot of the development from RO1 and shift focus to RO2, but won't just shut down the RO1 servers.  Remember there are all those paid items in the server they can't just do that anyway.  It's a product that has been developed for years and it is generating income.

Forgot to mention, discontinue RO1  = give the whole market to private server.  That's ultra stupid to do.  In terms of risk, they can't cut their income stream and hope for the best for RO2.  If it doesn't work out, the company will fail to generate the revenue it used to generate from RO1.  Not a working plan to shut down RO1 in order to push interest for RO2.  The interest might spill somewhere else.

From my understanding RO(japan) and RO(Korean) is still doing very well. I don't think they will discontinue it.

I hope it doesn't effect RO1, 2 sounded nice to me before I saw how they completely changed what Ragnarok was to me. Even if I did find a place that hosts a nice RO2 server, I don't think I would ever play it because of the difference.

I would like to compare the two personally (try RO2) if I don't get so lazy.
RO2 reminds me of WoW or Perfect World...
Friends are special flowers that bloom from trust.

Got a story that can be scripted as a RO quest? Or, a variation of other books and movies (like the Zelda and Hunger Games series)? PM me your ideas!

From what I've heard, International RO2 would be out on 2014. I hope that's not the case. If it is, then I may have to stick to Sword Girls or hope Tiara Concerto would come out sooner.

The gaming experience from RO 1 to RO 2 is totally different, one majorly because of the fact it's 3D. I remember playing RO 2 when it was still in beta with a couple of friends and I really didn't like it. It was very different from RO 1 in many ways.. Every other MMORPG I play, I don't stay on them for a long time just because of Graphics wise. They way gravity made RO 1 with 2D/3D images is very good and put the game ahead for its time.

Bleh, iunno, RO 2 isn't really my thing.
Come on and join
