Most crowded private servers are in Episode 1,2 & 4.

This is something I'll never understand. Why are classic servers so popular outside the EU/US? There's so little to do in RO pre-renewal already. Why would you choose to stick in a stagnant early episode with nothing to do besides grind for levels and items? There's no areas that require coordinated partying, no instances, very few towns, minimal quests, etc. That has to get old quick.

Anyway, I agree that RO is still on a slow decline. I think we will eventually see only a handful of properly run RO pservers once people realize that having 5-10 players per server isn't very enjoyable.

One word: Pvp. Suppose that's three words.... oh well. By the way, this forum has way too many verifcations lmao.

idk what rock you've been living under but RO's popularity and appeal have been on a constant decline over the past decade. The game literally offers nothing new and with the constant rise of new and updated mmropgs, it's popularity will keep decreasing.

At this point there's only 2 reasons why people still play RO in 2k18:
1. Skill: RO requires no skill and people who generally suck at mmoropgs would find RO appealing
2. Nostalgia: Self explanatory

> ro requires no skill

still waiting on that 1 v 1 kris ^_^

Declining obviously, It's not a fun game to be new to. It's a very frustrating game (rubber banding, etc) I got my wife to play it but she can't really get into it. Population is mostly veteran players who cycle in and out of the game.

I agree with that RO, especially pre-renewal, takes a lot of time to learn from classes, skills, gears and farming / leveling places.  Then there's different tactics when vs different mobs, MVPs, PvPs opponents or in WoEs  It is a never ending learning experience, I can't believe I spent that much time in RO back in the days.  When we grew up we have less time devoted to gaming unfortunately (*warning sign here for those that still have the luxury of time*).

It's good the veterans keep coming back so their knowledge can pass onto the next generation.  I mean, it take people to trial and error to develop the best way to do something and those veterans got that knowledge just like an interactive RO wiki  (points to some of you /heh).

There are still some private servers with huge population but I see less and less options out there, most players just want to play the old and boring pre-re or classic server. Renewal brought so much new content, quests, instances, mechanics but most players didn't even try these features before going back to something they already knew. The innovation is also on decline, most servers just have the same basic set of features that you can find on almost EVERY other server, a few years ago you would see servers with a reset system or a low rate with a super high level cap, a ton of events, custom items, even custom classes and skills, it was super fun to enjoy a brand new world inside of a world you already knew. The servers just got more and more boring, today it's super hard to find a server that I can play for more than 2-3 weeks.  /sob

I wanted to say is: a few years ago innovation and different features were something that most players wanted, but today I mostly see the "different is worse" kind of player, it's sad and super boring.

I feel like a lot of the Population is faked in many servers so it could make it look like its growing but from my experience only the like top 3-4 servers are getting players now. At least players close to what a lot of servers were getting before.
