Homunculus and Myst Case card

If my alchy is wearing say a myst case card but doesn't hit the monster, will i still get a chance to drop a gift box?

I think so, but other cards that gives status like poison won't work with hom, it should work on summoning plants but doesn't seem to work either

i heard that you must hit the monster for the card effect to trigger. The same goes to mimic card.

Homunculi are counted as a seperate entity, therefore card effects do not transfer. Summoned Plants count as you, which is why they have your name and never get attacked directly, and thusly card effects do trigger. Try summoning a pair of Parasites while being stocked up on auto-cast cards, it's hilarious.
