How much def and resistance do refines actually add?

CrimsonRed

say we have a full +7 Armor+Garment+shoes and headgear set, how would the total def number translate into demihuman resistance percentage? is it like an additional 5%?

Are you talking pre/after renewal and are you mixing up armor def with race resistance?

CrimsonRed

pre renewal and no, im looking for an equivalent number of race resistance additional def will bring

If I'm thinking the same that you're asking, you're asking about +/- what, in terms of race reduce, def is equal to.

Each 1 refine = 0.7 so having 5 items at +7 means 24.5 that is 25 in game

Testing with an Abysmal Knight with gears that give all 0 def:
Average Damage Recieved   1875
Testing with an Abysmal Knight with gears that give all 0 def but having them at +7 = 25 def:
Average Damage Recieved   1406

This means 74.99% dmg taken from the initial thing aka less 25.01% less.

Testing with only demi-human reduces now.
Testing with an Abysmal Knight with gears that give all 0 def:
Average Damage Recieved   1875
Testing with an Abysmal Knight with gears that give all -25.01% demi-human damage and still keeping the 0 def:
Average Damage Recieved   1407

1 def = +/- 1% race reduce what makes sense since the game mix every reduce when calculating dmg.

Seems +/- right ;)

You can't say that 1 DEF=1% resistance due to way different modifiers stack (nonlinear), and DEF, unlike % resistances, can be bypassed.

^def is usually for PvM, not many mobs have skills that go through def(quite a few MvP's do)

using 20% race resist and 20 def would be
100 - 20% from race
= 80 - 20% from def
= 64

This is how all resistances and such stack in RO, with the exception of when you do get 100% it completely blocks(I think you can only achieve that with fire resist)

He asked what would be the equivalent and without stacking stuff that is the equivalent.

@Orange: -100% = miss from the correspondent element, if you go higher on negative numbers you get heals and a different sound happens. With the exception of neutral, people can get -100% of everything, new world cards made that possible.

Every spell ignores def.
