A question to the GM's/Admins here
« on: Apr 02, 2008, 06:50 pm »
Ok a particular server is having problems with DB spawns.  Ppl will spawn high level mobs on a low level map, then get bored and leave, or spawn something they can;t kill and not come back to clean up.  This is complicated by the fact that the admins have made is possible to spawn any MVP from DB (including poripori).  Its a high rate, so ppl can kill these things, but only at high levels and in numbers.

Now alot of the newer players have gotten upset, because all the best grinding maps (like orc dungeon, payon dungeon and varios field maps) are covered in biolab mobs and skegiods, along with not a few MVP's.  The admin insists that they have enabled nobranch an all maps, but also has a rule on the site that anyone DBing outside the DB room will be jailed.  We have repeatedly asked her to disable branched on all maps except the DB rooms, but she says this is already done.

My plan is to state openly on the server forums that I will begin DB the guild maps with 200+ branches before every WOE until the branches are disabled.  Yes, i am aware this will violate server rules, get me jailed, and prolly banned, but i am hoping that it will solve the DB problem.

Alternately, i am debating starting a guild specifically to handle DB cleanup, as the admins are not covering this (it has taken over 15 Hrs for mobs to be cleared sometimes).

My question is, as an GM/admin, which would upset you less, a group of players taking over part of your job, or a player spamming DB's onto the guild maps to force you to implement your own rules?

The most dangerous thing a GM can do is to play NPC combatants as if they have brains, goals, and the desire to remain alive.

over all i'd be annoyed if ANYONE spawned monsters on low level maps....

and i think they'd be more pissed that ur trying to do their job for them cause it shows that they can't do it themselves >.<

Let the GM's on your server do the job. It's their responsibility. A single command that they will type will kill the mobs around them, so why will you spend 15 hours just to clear a map from mobs? If they will not do it, I want to see their face when the players leave their server.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Let me clarify, when i went back the map 15 hrs later, the mobs where still there.  Sry for any confusion.

(We have GM boards BTW)

I like the spamming idea. You WILL get banned, but it will be fastest way to get it solved.

im an admin and on my server we have the same problem and we also have a db/bb rule which forbids to use db and bbs on "start" maps like the maps around the cities.
but the players never listen and now i am going to make a DB/BB room or a new custom map for this and then i will lock all maps except the db/bb room or the custom map.

The players breaking the rule (by spamming db on guild map) would upset me more, then again they should add the mapflag nodb properly which would solve everything.
